Mineralocorticosteroids

Treatments with mineralocorticosteroids, e.g. fludrocortisone,  plus large amounts of liquid and salt  (NaCl) have been tried.  Here are three references to pharmacological data,   Fludrocortisone Acetate,   Florinef,  and  oral corticosteroids.

Dr. Peter Rowe, John Hopkins Hospital, US  has published interesting studies on NMH,  Rowe & Calkins, 1998, and he recommends intravenous NaCl solution,  e.g. 0,5 - 2 l,  as treatment for relapse of CFS.  A brochure on NMH from John Hopkins Hospital,  brochure, JHH, 1997.  It was also Dr. Rowe's group who published a large fludrocortisone-study, apparently leaving no hope for this treatment in CFS,  Rowe et a., 2001 (in length),  and  Rowe et al., 2001 (in short).  Three letters of response to this study are worth a read,  letters, Rowe et al., 2001.

A simple technique for muscular compression when standing, helps according to a Dutch study,  news, fainting, 2002.
Along this line is Cardiovascular systemic regulation by plantar surface stimulation, madhavan.etal06.txt.
